Welcome to the (Trash) Party!

What is Trash Party?

Hi Skyland neighbors,

My name is Anton and I live in Clayton on 35th and Milwaukee. A while back some neighbors and I were frustrated with our litter situation and started going out on walks with bags and trash grabbers to do what we could in the area around our block. We quickly realized that we were having fun, getting movement in, and meeting other neighbors - all while leaving our streets noticeably cleaner. We started referring to these walks as "trash parties."

I stood up trashparty.org as a way to track impact and generate momentum. After a soft launch last week, Clayton neighbors have removed 135lbs of litter from our streets (check out the Clayton map on the site to see where!) and the project seems to be resonating with people in the area. I have received requests from folks in Cole, Whittier and Skyland to expand to their areas and all four neighborhoods are now live. If you're open to it I would love the opportunity to share trashparty.org with your group at an upcoming meeting and get your feedback on ways to gain traction in Skyland. I believe that we can have a significant impact on our litter issues while creating stronger, more connected communities. Your help with making that a reality would be invaluable!

Let me know your thoughts. Thank you,

Anton in Clayton

Log trash pick up in Skyland. No formal membership, no meetings, no hassle. We just share the belief that all trash belongs in a can.

Note to Skyland Neighbors from your RNO: We're envisioning Trash Parties as a community activity immediately preceding our summer happy hours. Pick up trash; reward yourself with a cold one!
